Hey, everyone. I know I haven’t had a chance to post in a while due to a lot of things going on. The family and I had to fly home to California due to the passing of my grandmother. Still pretty bummed about my grandmother no longer with us, but I know she is at peace now. I also plan on posting an entry dedicated to her.

Despite the circumstances, it was nice to go home and spend time with family and friends. Bittersweet, for sure. But, it was also refreshing. Just having the opportunity to have In-N-Out and AYCE sushi (shoutout to Fuji’s) and to eat home cooked meals, was nice. Anyway, here are some photos from the trip. I won’t post all because there are a lot. You can check out the rest on my Flickr page.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to join a Street Meet through Instagram. I was invited by my friend, Gabe, to check out the meet since it was happening in Georgetown. So I figured, why not? I was kind of nervous at first because I felt intimidated. But I decided to go anyway and meet up with Gabe and check out to see what goes on during a photo walk. The meet up was really neat. A lot of fellow photographers who wanted to simply take photos and network with other fellow photographers. I was able to connect with a couple during our walk. One neat thing I noticed during our walk was the amount of people who wanted to get their photos taken. Pretty neat if you’re an aspiring model trying to get dem likes on the ‘gram. But it was cool to observe how some photographers wanted to stage a photo or the model for their photo. Our walk started from Grace Street NW, down to the waterfront, then a walk underneath the Francis Scott Key Bridge and up to this brick structure that was called “The Cliff”. I was able to get a couple of shots in before the cops came. The last photo stop was at the infamous steps from the movie “The Exorcist”. I have to admit, I didn’t know it was in Georgetown, but it was cool to see the stairs from the movie that still freaks me out. After a couple of shots, headed over to bakery called ‘Baked & Wired’ with Gabe…but struck out when we saw the line. That pretty ended my day and headed back home. I thought my photos came out alright, but looking through all the shots I took, I feel like I could have gotten closer for some shots, especially on the models…maybe ask them for a couple portrait shots or compose the photo a little better. But it’s okay, it’s a learning process, and I will continue to learn.

I hope this is a start of meeting up with Gabe for some photo walks in DC or in VA…Also gotta grab some dinner with our families.

I’m glad my wife encouraged me to go and break out of my comfort zone…If I didn’t go, I wouldn’t have learned and observed other photographers.

Good times.

Oh, Royal Rumble was boring.

Steph Curry still doing Steph Curry things.

For you fellow San Francisco 49ers fans, JOHN LYNCH?! WHERE DID HE COME FROM?!

Donald Trump is America’s Duterte. When are they meeting? That’ll be more entertaining than Soulja Boy v. Chris Brown.

K, that’s it. Enjoy the photos.

This past week was a eventful one. Started the week with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, followed by a three days of work, then the start of another three day weekend, due to the Inauguration of Donald Trump. I have to admit, it was nice knowing I didn’t have to go to work on Friday, but at the same time, I had a sense of intrigue how Inauguration Day was going to be. I thought about making my way into D.C. to photograph the Inauguration, but I felt it wouldn’t be fair for me to go out on a day off, knowing my wife and daughter would be home. So, I watched the Inauguration from home…And I’m glad I did, because Livy came down with a light fever.  I’m sure everyone has blog posts and articles about Inauguration Day, so I won’t go talk about it too much. The only thing I’ll bring up is how the Press Secretary can publicly claim the attendance of the Inauguration was an all-time high? How?!

Anyway, Saturday came around and we needed to get some fresh air. We knew DC was out the picture due to the Woman’s March on Washington (but amazing turnout nationwide), so we opted to check out a place called The Block in Annandale. It was a pretty chill spot with some good food options. We opted to order a Pork Belly with Rice Bowl and some Fried Chicken (think street food chicken nuggets in Asia). Food was pretty good, but good enough for Livy to eat majority of the food. Definitely a cool spot to check out, if you’re in the area. Prices are kinda high, but I get why. We headed to Kung Fu Tea after to grab some milk tea, this spot probably has the best boba in the area. I think this is our go-to spot for milk tea boba. We tried to think of other places to go, but due to the cold weather and Livy’s teething issues, we ended up at Barnes & Noble to allow Livy to check out some of the toys and the books. Oh, I also picked up Vol. 3 of Descender by Jeff Lemire…Definitely on the best comic book titles out today.

Here are some photos from that day. I’ve been thinking of ways to be more creative with the photos I take. More like, trying to find my style of photography. It’s going to take some time. But the important thing is, I’m doing this as a hobby. As long as I can capture the things that catch my attention and take a nice photo, I’ll be happy with it. It’s a process and I hope I continue to learn, practice, and improve shooting.

Enjoy the photos!

Oh yeah, cancer SUCKS.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

-Hebrews 13:8

I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

– Psalms 77:11

This was a refreshing reminder for me today. No matter what circumstances we face, God continues to provide and bless. Don’t let up on your faith. Continue to trust Him.

Don’t have much to say tonight. But, here is a live feed of Earth from the International Space Station. Sure, it’s Friday and a lot of you may not ever see this post. It’s all good.

I saw a headline today that there was a Facebook outage around the world, which led folks to voice their frustration and anger on the issue. I guess what I’m trying to say is, if you’re one of those people who flipped out because you couldn’t access Facebook…

Put the technology piece down and get some fresh air. Read a book. Do some squats. Have a face to face conversation.

Oh, and before you start sharing articles on your feed for all to see, please make sure that the sources are legit and isn’t some click bait site that’ll lead you to click on more garbage links, which will then lead to a phishing/hacking issue for you. Don’t share the ‘fake news’.

Don’t fall for the titles that say “This guy wanted to buy a house, but you won’t guess what happens to him next.”

Need a book recommendation? Here are a few:

A Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Crazy Love by Francis Chan

Have a nice weekend.

Oh, and #saltbae.

I woke up this morning and immediately got out of bed, looked out the window, and saw some snowflakes falling from the sky. It’s snowing! Now, I didn’t think much, because it didn’t seem it would last long. Since Dar and Livy were still asleep, I went to the kitchen to wash some dishes and prep for breakfast. When Livy finally woke up, I pulled up the blinds and saw a nice dusting of snow. Livy was focused seeing snow and had an expression of “what is that stuff falling?”. The snow fall eventually got stronger and decided to take her out to the courtyard to walk around and experience her first official snowfall. It was so cool to see here take her first steps on the fresh powder and just stop and stare at her surroundings…About a minute, she began exploring the courtyard of Narnia. lol.

Hello, again. The first week of 2017 is over and work was pretty busy. I think I ended up sleeping around the same time Livy fell asleep (around 10). Even with a full 8+ hours, I still felt tired. But, it’s okay. The weekend is here, so it’s time to relax and hopefully wake up early enough to see some snow fall in the AM.

Tonight we headed to Costco to do some grocery shopping. I kind of didn’t want to go tonight due to the cold weather and the history of dealing. But, we opted to go tonight and not risk having to drive in the snow. (I’m from California, driving in the snow is not a common occurrence) We arrived and was surprised that Costco wasn’t busy! We actually finished our grocery shopping in an hour. Amazing. We headed back home and watched some Paw Patrol.

Oh, yeah…Trolls was a pretty entertaining movie and The Accountant made me want to be a trained assassin, without actually being an accountant lol.
