This past week was a eventful one. Started the week with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, followed by a three days of work, then the start of another three day weekend, due to the Inauguration of Donald Trump. I have to admit, it was nice knowing I didn’t have to go to work on Friday, but at the same time, I had a sense of intrigue how Inauguration Day was going to be. I thought about making my way into D.C. to photograph the Inauguration, but I felt it wouldn’t be fair for me to go out on a day off, knowing my wife and daughter would be home. So, I watched the Inauguration from home…And I’m glad I did, because Livy came down with a light fever. I’m sure everyone has blog posts and articles about Inauguration Day, so I won’t go talk about it too much. The only thing I’ll bring up is how the Press Secretary can publicly claim the attendance of the Inauguration was an all-time high? How?!
Anyway, Saturday came around and we needed to get some fresh air. We knew DC was out the picture due to the Woman’s March on Washington (but amazing turnout nationwide), so we opted to check out a place called The Block in Annandale. It was a pretty chill spot with some good food options. We opted to order a Pork Belly with Rice Bowl and some Fried Chicken (think street food chicken nuggets in Asia). Food was pretty good, but good enough for Livy to eat majority of the food. Definitely a cool spot to check out, if you’re in the area. Prices are kinda high, but I get why. We headed to Kung Fu Tea after to grab some milk tea, this spot probably has the best boba in the area. I think this is our go-to spot for milk tea boba. We tried to think of other places to go, but due to the cold weather and Livy’s teething issues, we ended up at Barnes & Noble to allow Livy to check out some of the toys and the books. Oh, I also picked up Vol. 3 of Descender by Jeff Lemire…Definitely on the best comic book titles out today.
Here are some photos from that day. I’ve been thinking of ways to be more creative with the photos I take. More like, trying to find my style of photography. It’s going to take some time. But the important thing is, I’m doing this as a hobby. As long as I can capture the things that catch my attention and take a nice photo, I’ll be happy with it. It’s a process and I hope I continue to learn, practice, and improve shooting.
Enjoy the photos!
Oh yeah, cancer SUCKS.
